I have a new personal trainer

As all of you know, while many years ago, I was very much in working out but that was in the 90s and now that it is almost the end of the aughts ('00s) I figure it is about damn time that I get back on that horse. I really can't live on my swimming glory anymore - it is a tad bit too long now.

About 2 years ago I spent a stupid amount of money on a twice a week personal trainer. I got up every tuesday and thursday and went to the gym at 7:30 in the morning. And while that was totally not fun, I think if I had tried a tad bit harder, maybe it would have worked out for me, I think it was the early mornings, and she wasn't that motivating.

I now have a new workout regime. I am on week one of my new Wii game the EA Sports Active Personal Trainer. (Full disclosure - they are a client)

So I was a tad skeptical about this game, I have the Wii fit and while it is fun, it just does not have enough things to keep you going. But this game really takes it to the next level.

Features that I like:

  • They have set up workouts already done for you so you just hit play and you have a 30minute - 1 hour workout ready for you to go
  • You can play with another person at the same time
  • They have a 30 day challenge that starts easy and get harder as the month goes on. It even comes with days off.

I have just finished the first week of the 30 day challenge. Thoughts so far:

  • Lots of lunges but in the end it is what you need to do
  • I like the dancing sections
  • I suck at the volleyball sections
  • They make you do jumping squats!
  • I kind of rock at the boxing, even if you have to do like 200 hits on the punching bag to get to the next level (arms are sore)

I have to say, it is pretty much all the same exercises that I did with the trainer. This one is just about a billion dollars cheaper.

In my credit crunch mode, while trying to cut costs (and not to get rid of my cleaning lady (she rocks)) I am killing the gym membership and sticking with my new personal trainer.  Check it out:

Wii Tennis

We bought a Wii over the weekend. My arm and shoulder are sore as poo from Tennis, but I can't stop playing. MCG will likely be picking up Madden Football soon. It is a great system.

I am so bad

at Wii Tennis it is scary. About as bad as I am at guitar hero. Josh and Megan can atest to my very bad Wii tennis game. They both killed me when they were here and we played late night Wii action.

We just got it

I will let you know what we think of it :)
